So thanks to Chetnik, I'm writing this to help inform map makers that making a map and reusing the name of another should only occur if it is a restructure of the previous. The problem with this is this will cause an influx of suffixes in the map name.
When updating a map:
Please, if you are updating (recompiling) a map:
When updating a map:
- Use the same name with one, simple end suffix to the name. Usually v#.
- Do not include in your final make of the map the final suffix, as usually it won't be.
- Use either v# or intox as a suffix (no one knows what ig is).
- Don't include random numbers and letters in version numbers. They should be at simple 1+ additions.
- Do not include fix in the suffix
- Do not include the date/year of the map in the map name
- Include an underscore before your map name's suffix.
Please, if you are updating (recompiling) a map:
- Try not to include movable props. Breakables are fine.
- Check for bugs and skybox leaks
- Check for proper optimization to reduce unnecessary map rendering.
- Avoid unnecessary teleporting
