.hack//sign is one of the shows that really got me into anime, and this just seems like it's trying too hard to use the same concept.

no its more that i like the style and story of SAO better. or i just didnt see enough .hack ep's

I really enjoyed it up until Kirito beat SAO and then that major plot twist kinda killed it for me. I still want to finish it but I know I'll probably be pissed at how they ended it :'(

I'm up to date. I watched all of the available ones this weekend ;_; I'm sad that they split up Kirito and Asuna like that though :/

i do wonder where his OPness went, i mean he still had the same stats from SAO in AO, didnt he?

He does. But I think AO is more about the player skill and the stats might not matter as much per say.
