Pokemon/Nintendo Suggestions

One of the only Intox servers I play on is the Pokemon/Nintendo server, and after many rounds where I would whine about there not being many Pokemon/Nintendo maps, I decided to attempt to learn/use Hammer to make new maps, only problems are: a) I have the attention span of a rock, b) I have no inspiration, and c) I am complete noob with map editor... that said I want to hear map Ideas so should I miraculously figure out how to map any time soon I will have some direction to go in.

Hmm... Ya, an inside area would make it simple, a tower would be fun to make, and I don't have to worry about where to put spawns... I think your idea is good, although Should I make the tower taller with more floors? Include an outside of the tower, or what? It should probably be slightly bigger than what it already is...

Just the tower. No outside. Maybe two towers (you can mirror/copy and paste the towers) with a courtyard in the middle.
My ideas are too strong.

Hmmm... Ok, make it kind of like a sniper map... or not, windows or no windows?
 
Some windows open some not open. The majority of windows should be closed. Maybe 1/5 should be open. Or. Or. OR. Openable windows with the +use function.

Ok, new problem: Scaling I have no idea how big or how small to make things... The map is on a grid in the original game, so what size grid should I work in on hammer?

Tower floors should be about the size of.. oh, I don't know, Nucleus minus the spawns and outer ring? Courtyard should be double the size of 2fort's outside.

Just a suggestion. Bigger is always better.
 
You guys are being great help, thanks! I have hit a snag though, which may make the map making really difficult which is that I do not know how to make props. Is there a way to get the props from the already existing pokemon maps, or should I start working on new ones?

I now understand basic mapping and textures! Now all I need is model skills, I should be on my way from here on...

well, in my opinion (im not that expertise into map making) it depends how accessible the windows would be from spawn. if they can be accessed below 10-15 seconds after spawn, then some should be closed windows without breakable properties.

but if you have anymore questions, there are some map makers in intox and in our community that will be glad to help!

Update - Almost done the tower...

Tombstone's textures are a bit wonky.. hard to tell how they would translate to 3D... Apart from that, All that really needs to be done is to make the teleports, decorate the tower and make the courtyard...


Inside of tower is Done, Looks pretty good...

Well, I screwed up... I made the whole map a giant Choke Point, and that isn't good, So I am going to put lavender tower on hold, and even then, shouldn't be a big problem considering very few people probably wanted it as a map... going to start a new project now...
