So I just got back home today to discover that my laptop is completely white when it turns on. I can still use it if it's connected to an external monitor aand everything is visible. Any suggestions? (If any of them require me to open it up, it'll have to wait til tomorrow to do so since it is pretty late over here.)

From just looking at the screen, I can tell it isn't cracked anywhere so I can rule out damage to the screen. The warranty is void now since it's been welwell over a year since I got it.

Model is Toshiba Satellite C55 A 1N1

Sounds like you have some damage. A disconnected screen will stay black. Did you drop it recently?

Nope. Left my laptop at home yesterday while I was out and it was fine then. When I arrived back 10 hours later, that suddenly pops up from nowhere.

EDIT - Situation sorted. The LCD ribbon came out slightly. So I took it out and placed it back in again along with a fresh set of tape.
