What is your favorite type of Jazz? Favorite instrument? Favorite Era?

Mine is 1950's Rock n Roll, With Bass Trombone as my favorite instrument :D

My favorite type of jazz to listen to is really anything the local musicians are putting out. I love smooth and vocal jazz (like the last video, for example).

Favorite instrument, its a 2.5 way tie, between Trombone, Bass trombone, and Bari sax is up there too haha

My favorite era to play BY FAR is early 20th century big band swing.

not so much a song, per se, but the groove he lays down is fucking tight.


I like dark jazz and anything with a real good beat/groove to it. I'm not a musician, so I'm not sure what exactly defines 'jazz' as 'jazz' seems to be about as broad of a term as 'rock' (as funk, soul, smooth jazz, dark jazz, etc. are still offshoots - as well as their own genre - as metal, hardcore, punk, folk, etc. are to rock.) but I'd consider those to be jazz and stuff I really like.

Cowboy Bebop got me into a lot of Jazz.

I'm not really much of a jazz person, so I just listen to whatever my friends play. This is them:
I'm not sure what genre you would classify that under. I also love jazz piano.

Hard choice for me both questions are a split answer fusion/rainy day jazz. As for instruments Bass/Sax.
