Like yeah, I totally know what you're talking about and by the only sentence you told me I will totally be able to help you.
You have to make sure your encryption settings match. there should be an IP to connect to on your router to set it up. Also your post is very vague. Does the internet work if you're directly connected (not to the router) using a lan cable?
What is the router brand and model #?
maybe i could help also make sure you go into more detail.
are you using wep,wpa,wpa2 to encrypt and password your network??
providers don't help with routers. unplug then replug it in.
Don't forget to update the firmware.
