So I'm back home for turkey week and I brought my old gaming laptop with me so I could stay occupied. This thing was running like crap anyways last time I used it about a year ago (why I got a bad ass desktop). Now I'm fiddling around to see if I can get this thing revived.

My cpu (intel p4HT 3.6ghz) temps are running at 65 c (no load) up to about 78 c while playing css. and i'm getting about 10-40 fps (lowest video settings) depending on if the fan is going full speed or not. I've googled a fan speed speed controller and I'm not finding any software that will work for me.

Anyone have/had this problem or could link me something good for this? btw I've tried speedfan but can't find mobo configs for the clevo d900t

Thanks in advance!
I think my boyfriend had a similar problem on his newer sweeter alienware laptop, and he fixed it. It was something about the video card fan or something, I think? or maybe anti-aliasing. fuck, i don't know. but he fixed it and didn't have to send it in or anything.
mines about 3 years old and passed warranty. I don't think the gpu (6800 ultra) is the problem (been through about 3 though) If I could get my cpu temps down I may be able to play the game instead of getting owned everytime I try to rebel lol
I have a cooling pad for my laptop. keeps it soo cold.
got one of those, ain't doing it for me :-/

I found your problem.
bash my alienware all you want, i know it sucks first hand. But I do need a real solution for the time being
Okay well since you admitted defeat, this is what I would do:

Boot into BIOS
underclock your CPU.

I'm sure it wasn't 3.6ghz when you bought it because there are definitely no 3.6ghz processors, and I pray that Alienware wouldn't try to overclock something that much in a laptop (an I'm just basing that off of the 3.16ghz processors which I doubt you have).

So yeah try that. Because you don't want your CPU getting at 65C even while under load. 70s is just a death wish. It should be anywhere between 20-40C idle and no more than 65C under load (65 is still pushing it imo).

Most helpful post I've ever seen in my entire life, thank you good sir.
I wouldn't be so sure, Jared. Yours was quite helpful in this thread. Thanks for being so inciteful.
